Jason Antin's Mountain Gear & Expert Recommendations

IFMGA/AMGA Mountain Guide | Avalanche Educator | Mountain Performance Coach

The story you tell yourself becomes your reality.

Jason Antin, a native of Massachusetts who now calls Colorado home, devotes his time to striving for the ultimate work-life balance. He began exploring the outdoors at a young age in the White Mountains of New England. After graduating from St. Lawrence University, he started his guiding career working with adults with developmental disabilities in Boston. His passion for teaching mountain craft and sharing the outdoors with others inspired a move to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, where he has been guiding for over a decade. Jason is highly trained in risk management and wilderness emergency medicine, and he is an exceptionally competent guide across all areas of mountain exploration. His greatest passion lies in endurance-based alpine adventures. His ultimate goal as a guide is to provide safe, positive experiences that guests will remember for years to come. Some of Jason’s most memorable mountain exploits include summiting Denali twice in one week—once via the Cassin Ridge—climbing the Nose in a Day on his very first attempt on El Capitan, and combining endurance and alpine skills to create unique adventures like the “Orizaba Rodeo” or setting a speed record on the Rainier Infinity Loop. In addition to guiding, Jason coaches at the Alpine Training Center Gym in Boulder, CO, where he helps athletes prepare for the physical and mental rigors of the mountains. He also continues to work on his Beat Monday project (featured on Outside TV), where he applies years of mountain experience to find creative and challenging ways to squeeze the most adventure out of a standard two-day weekend. Off the clock, Jason lives in Golden, CO, with his wife Jenny and their two daughters, Avery and Andora. He enjoys moving quickly through the mountains across all mediums nature provides—whether trails, rock, ice, or snow.
